In a house of women in mourning, with no escape, we ask - does a woman hold more power in her death, or else, what is worth living for?
In Needle, Thread, Whiplash we peer into the lives of a collective of women in the Alba household who are beholden to an austere matriarch, a microcosm reflective of societal, cyclical oppression and its consequences. While the women needle their fine lace in sizzling mourning after a family death, jealousy and rebellion become the threads of their relationships, turning sisters into enemies and love into poison. What can soak up the traumas that drip down the branches of generations in their family tree?
