MFA Acting (International) present an online performance of Asian Exclusion Act.
The history of East & Southeast Asian Exclusion via art, satire and tragedy.
A new play written for East 15.
Written and directed by Daniel York Loh.
Chinese artist, Hong, is intrigued when she is commissioned to exhibit at the Chinese Space for Contemporary Art – one of the very few art spaces specifically for ‘Chinese’ art in the whole of Europe.
The racial make-up of the space’s management raises many questions though – which only inspires Hong to dig deep into the history of Asian exclusion in the West. From entry into countries, society, art and stories from 1800s America. Through war-time Liverpool to modern Britain via satire, tragedy and, of course, art.
Running time: 120 minutes
