Toby Alexander in New Hannibal Lector Film

East 15's 2005 BA Contemporary Theatre graduate Toby Alexander has just commenced filming on the new film about Hannibal Lecter.

Based on Thomas Harris' upcoming new book of the same name, Behind the Mask, this prequel shows a young Hannibal Lecter in three different phases of his life; from childhood in Lithuania to his ten years in France up to his time in America, before his capture by FBI agent Will Graham in Red Dragon. Toby will appear alongside Gaspard Ulliel and Gong Li, two of the most exciting young up and coming actors on the international scene.

Behind the Mask will tell how Lecter was born in the late 1930s into a wealthy Lithuanian land-owning family. His parents were killed by the Nazis when he was six and he and Mischa, his elder sister, had to fend for themselves in the winter of 1944.

Toby initially auditioned for this film whilst still training and is delighted to have been offered a role in the film so soon after his debut stage role in Kingfisher Blue at the Bush Theatre in London, one of the UK's most prestigious theatres for new theatre writing.
