BBC Carleton Hobbs Award: BBC Radio Drama
Trevor Cuthbertson, soon to graduate from East 15's MA in Acting for TV, Film and Radio degree, has just finished a contract with BBC Radio in his first radio drama.
Whilst studying his radio skills at East 15, under the direction of illustrious tutors including David Blount, Trevor was awarded a special commendation by the Carleton Hobbs Bursary Awards panel.
Twenty accredited drama colleges (a total of 80 students) took part in this year's competition. Chaired by Radio Drama producer, Cherry Cookson, the judges comprised Steven Canny, Manon Palmer, John Rowe and Rebecca Wilmshurst who said: 'Via the competition, we look for distinctive, versatile radio voices to form the next season's Radio Drama Company. We believe that the Carleton Hobbs competition offers a unique opportunity to new acting talent.'
Trevor's first production, The Gunpowder Plot aired on BBC Radio Three and was part of the celebrations to mark the 400 year anniversary of Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up the House of Lords. So successful was his first production, he has now been offered a second new drama.
